Education

One of the most important things one can do when it comes to local food is pitching in. Being active in the community when it comes to growing, producing, or just selling not only stregthens relationships, but it strengthens local food in general. Therefore, this page is dedicated directly to oppurtunities where you can go out and help the community grow and eat locally.

Slow Food In The Tetons is a small form of a larger global movement of Slow Food USA. Overall, this movement is focused on organizing the Jackson Hole Farmers' Market, as well as introducing local food fromfarms around Jackson Hole and other parts of Wyoming and Idaho.

Slow Food In The Tetons also offers programs for those who want to become involved in the local food scene. These programs vary from Slow Food Youth Network to Mountain Market Exhibition. For more information on how to become involved, click here...

Next, Slow Food also allows you to become a member of the Slow Food community. By doing this, you can stay up-to-date on current Slow Food announcments locally and across the country. You can also see what others are doing to help support their community and local food. For more information on this, click here...

Workshares/Volunteering

Workshares are defined as oppurtunities to become a part of a farm team, and help with planting, harvesting, production, and distribution. Overall, this help is usually volunteered, and pays only in experience, relationships, and free local food.

In the Jackson Hole community as well as the greater Teton Valley community, there are many oppurtunities to participate in a work share experience. Below is just a small list of the many possibile options to participate in a workshare with:

  • Full Circle Farm

  • EverGreen Farm

  • Cosmic Apple Gardens

  • Painted Sage Farm

  • Vertical Harvest

To take part in these workshare activities, visit the websites of the farms listed on other pages, and fill out the forms required to work. Most often, these workshares fall within a specific schedule within the year, and the slots fill fast! This means that if you want to be active, you must first be competitive.
